Margo Popped In...to say Hello!

June 9, 2018

 ... Well Hello!

We've decided we want to offer you more through our website...and seeing as we love chatting with folks at events we attend...we thought we would bring some chat to the website! So let's do this...and start near the beginning...

Things have been crazy busy for Margo & Team since our business launch December 2017. Our home town of Liskeard, SE Cornwall has been greatly supportive and we have 'popped in' to any opportunities that have come forward. There was the Liskeard Festive Vintage Fair; our maiden appearance. The Liskeard Produce & Craft Market (a great regular event) and coming up in August we have the annual Ploughmans Festival. We attended the Plymouth Lou Lou's event earlier in the year, two Miss Ivy events...Vintage, Jazz & Gin at Mount Edgcumbe and The Summer Garden Fete at Kitley House, Devon (and later in August we shall be attending the Plymouth Pride event). And to date...only last weekend, following a successful application to attend under the Duchy Vintage Fair umbrella, we headed off for the weekend to the wonderful Great Estate Festival at Scorrier House.

Margo shades can also be purchased through two stockists within Cornwall; Studio 10 in Liskeard and Goose Shed near Wadebridge (http://www.gooseshed.co.uk)

Their support is always of importance to us and we are extremely grateful.

Product development - earlier in the year Margo's creative director, Mandy Beall (greatly inspired by Paris umbrella restorer Pep) headed off to Wiltshire to attend a wonderful course with the marvellous Joanna Heptinstall. Having enjoyed working with the vintage fabrics and transforming them using a drum shade format, there was a strong pull for Mandy to learn the technique of restoration of traditional frames. "Many people would approach us explaining how they had been left the shade of a passed loved one and could we restore it", Mandy explains. Always keen to push the Margo business further forward Mandy sought to find a course, gave her husband Peter a brief, and signed up ready to attend the following week!

Along with the shades there are currently new plans in the pipeline...further details of these once they materialise - "We don't believe in wastage...as can be seen in our dust bag drawstrings (strips of fabrics offcuts) and we have something a little extra we'd like to bring to the table"...watch this space. No plans to replace the shades...just a little extra offering.
